A real estate company, Livebridge Properties, has provided free medical care, food and essential supplies to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Abuja to commemorate this year’s Valentine’s Day.
The company, while distributing the items to the IDPs at Karon Majiji camp, FCT, on Friday, re-affirmed its commitment to supporting vulnerable communities as part of its corporate social responsibilities.
Speaking at the occasion, Livebridge Group’s Managing Director, Mr Nwaneri Flaker, emphasised the significance of corporate organisations stepping in to assist vulnerable communities.
According to him, the firm has provided free medical care to no fewer than 1,000 residents, along with food and essential supplies to support children, women and the elderly.
“Government cannot handle this burden alone, which is why we have chosen to support this IDP camp as part of our CSR efforts.
“Valentine’s Day is not just about personal celebrations; it’s also an opportunity to extend love to those in need,” Flaker said.
Highlighting the organisation’s priorities, he stressed the importance of aiding struggling to meet their basic needs, particularly access to healthcare.
On her part, Faith Obinna, a Director in the firm, underscored the necessity of closing the gap between the affluent and the under-privileged communities.
She stressed the importance of women’s empowerment in breaking the cycle of poverty.
“When women are given the right skills and resources, they can generate income and provide for their families.
“Government should prioritise skill acquisition programmes for women, as they have the ability to multiply whatever support they receive,” she stated.
Also speaking, the company’s Head of Operations, Alice Ejembi, said that similar outreach programmes had been implemented in other IDP camps, including that of Kaura.
“It’s not just about providing food; we also offer free medical checkups, distribute essential supplies and donate mobility aids like wheelchairs,” Ejembi said.
Mr Mohammed Danteni, Secretary to the Emir of Persons with Physical Challenges in Abuja, expressed gratitude to Livebridge Properties for the gesture.
He particularly praised Flaker for his unwavering support to the IDP community.
“Feeding and providing medical aid to more than 1,000 people in these tough economic times is no small feat. May God reward and elevate you and your company,” Danteni said.
One of the beneficiaries. Grace Dalla, thanked the company for the support, saying that it had left a lasting impression on her.
“This is my first time of attending this event, but I’ve heard that they were here last year as well.
“I sincerely appreciate their kindness. May God bless them abundantly,” Dalla said. (NAN)
