Metchie hails Chief Nwakacha over massive scholarship to students

The President General (PG) of Umueri General Assembly and Prime Minister of Anambra State Association of Town Union (ASATU), Ambassador John Metchie, has commended the Pro- Chancellor of Greenfield University, Kaduna, Chief (Engr.) Simon Ifediora Nwakacha (Onwa Ndigbo), for awarding scholarships to hundreds of students, to study various course in the institution.

Chief Nwakacha recently unveiled a new list of scholarship awardees with eight of the beneficiaries drawn from the five states from the South East.

The recipients are Igbos residing in Kaduna State.

In a letter addressed to the President General, Igbo Community Welfare Association (ICWA), Kaduna, dated April 7, 2025 and signed by the Registrar, Greenfield University stated that the Governing Board of the school approved the scholarships following a request from the Pro- Chancellor.

Reacting to the development, Chief Metchie, who is also the African Director, International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA), praised Engr. Nwakacha for the gesture.

He said it was another testimony of his commitment to the promotion of education in Nigeria and development of humanity in general.

Metchie, himself a renowned philanthropist and Deputy Commander General of the Nigeria Forest Security Service, NFSS, noted specifically that among the beneficiaries of the recent Greenfield University scholarships were students from Umueri and Aguleri, two neighbouring communities in Anambra State and stated that it was a significant move that would further cement the affinal bonds between them.

He praised the resilience of Chief Nwakacha, who also holds the traditional chieftaincy title of Onwa Umueri, for his steadfastness and commitment which he said propelled the University to its current enviable height after the challenges it passed through in the past.

The beneficiaries of the latest Greenfield University scholarship awards from South East include Nathan David Chidera (Anambra), Igwe Emmanuella (Ebonyi), Okafor Jacinta Onyinyechi (Enugu), Kwezu Phillip Chinedu (Anambra), Alisigwe Favour Jacinta (Imo), Nwafor Chiamaka Mercy (Anambra), Ezinwa Divine Ebube (Anambra) and Ifeanyi Uzziel Somtochukwu (Abia).
