HRH, the Gadayako of Yelwa in Toto LGA of Nasarawa State, Mr Musa Abu Shekwo, has constituted a Ten man committee tagged ” Fulani/Gbagyi Peace Initiative” in order to promote peace among Fulani and Gbagyi communities in the area.
The traditional ruler while inaugurating the committee in his palace, said that the are to ensure peace and unity among the two ethnic groups and other tribes in the area.
“There is the need for tolerance and synergy between the two major ethnic groups in this area.
“Gbagyi people are predominantly farmers while the Fulanis herders are pastoralists.
“You need to tolerate and embrace peace at all times,” he said.
The monarch assured of his commitment to promote peace and development in the area.
” As a royal father and custodian of the people culture, I have a duty to make sure that my people live peacefully with each other irrespective of their affiliations,” he said
He tasked the committee members on honesty, transparency and accountability urging them to live above board while discharging their duties.
On his part, The Deputy Chairman of Toto LGA, Hon Atnadu Sunday Yakubu commended the bold step taken by the royal father in complementing pharmacist Yahaya, the LG Chairman peace approach.
” This is timely as we are approaching farming season and an antidotes to averting the unfortunate incidents which occurred ultimately a week ago in Farin Dutse Nasarawa local government area.
The Deputy Chairman urged the committee members to discharge their duties with fairness and Justice
It would be reported that the committee members included Mallam Yahaya Adamu (Adegba) fulani as Chairman , Hon Musa D. Gajere Gbagyi from Dogon Dutse as 1st deputy Chairman, Madaki Bade , 2nd Deputy Chairman from Nakuse and member are Anyilo Shigudu Yelwa ( Wakilin Fulani Yelwa), Musa Jabbo Tudu uku treasurer, Benjamin Bitrus Nakuse PRO 1,
Others are Doraya Hamza Toto PRO2, Anguson Awyetu Haruna Financial Secretary, Toto, Alh Dauda Abdullahi Dogon Dutse Auditor and Emmanuel Musa Kolo secretary of the committee.
It would also be reported that the occasion was attended by DSS, NSCDC and the information officer Toto LGA among others.
