The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), in collaboration with OCI Foundation, would establish a Cancer Screening Centre to reduce the negative impact of Cervical and Breast Cancers among women.
The Minister of State for FCT, Dr Ramatu Aliyu, gave the indication when Prof. Chris Ifediora, President of the Foundation, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Ministry ahead of the inauguration of a digital cancer screening center in the territory.
This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Samuel Agwu, the Media Director of the Foundation, on Wednesday in Abuja.
Aliyu, represented by her Senior Special Assistant, Prof. Muhammad Usman, explained that such a project would impact positively on the lives of the FCT residents.
She expressed the hope that the gesture would be extended to all the Area Councils of the FCT and promised to provide land for the purpose.
Speaking earlier, Ifediora appealed to the Ministry to ensure the inclusion of Breast and Cervical Cancer preventive campaigns of the NGO into the curriculum of all secondary schools in the territory.
He hinted that the foundation, in partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), would inaugurate a project, called “Arm Our Youths Anti-Cancer Health Campaign” on Feb. 3 in Abuja. (NAN)
