The Governor of Anambra State, Mr Willie Obiano says President Muhammadu Buhari is not in support of the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami’s claim of the Federal Government intention to declare state of emergency in the state if the insecurity that may disrupt the democratic process persist.

Obiano made this know after a closed door meeting with Buhari on Thursday in Abuja.

“Alhambra has been a safest state in Nigeria under my leadership. So a little hicup should not want his comment.

” Why didn’t he make those comments in Kaduna, Jos, Zamfara. Why is he making that assertion when we have election by the corner?

“There is no reason for that assertion, and the president did not suggest that. The president want a free and peaceful election in Anambra.

” But people in his party are going round, making insinuations and using his name to do things. The president told me clearly that he doesn’t support that,” Obiano stressed.

You may recall that after the Federal Executive Council Meeting on Wednesday, Malami, while addressing newsmen said the Federal Government may declare state of emergency if the insecurity in Anambra would affect the democratic process in the state.

He said, “No possibility is ruled out bygovernment in terms of ensuring thesanctity of our democratic order, in terms of ensuring that our elections in Anambra hold.

“And you cannot rule out the possibility of declaration of state of emergency where it is established, in essence, that there is a failure on the part of the state government to ensure the sanctity of security of lives, properties and democratic order,” he said
