  • ‘Our Joy Was Short-lived’: AGN says actor Junior Pope is dead

National President, Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, has expressed sadness over the death of Junior Pope, saying that “It’s so so sad that our joy was shortlived.”

According to a post on his Facebook page on Thursday morning, he said although he earlier announced that Junior Pope was alive out of excitement when they noticed the tingling of his fingers, he eventually passed away after efforts to revive him failed.

He added: “Two notable hospitals tried their best to revive him but to no avail. God knows the best. We finally lost him.

“Mr Friday corpse has been identified but three other corpses are yet to be found.”

Corroborating Rollas, the Delta State chairman of AGN, Emma Onyemeziem, confirmed that the corpse of the actor had been deposited in a morgue.

Recall that divers on Wednesday afternoon recovered the body of Junior Pope after falling into Anam River in Anambra State when a boat he was riding in capsized.

One of the divers who recovered their bodies, Peter Chinedu, said they were on their way to a movie location.

A sympathizer, simply called David, however, stated he was returning from a shooting location when their boat capsized on Anam River.

The actor had earlier shared a video of himself and others on the boat on their way to the movie location.

Captioning the video, he wrote: “See me lamenting….The risk we take to entertain you; crossing River 9ja yesterday with no life jacket…. Na wahooooo Who does that ??”

  • 23-yr-old lady shoots, kills police officer in office

The Imo state Police Command has confirmed the death of a police officer, Cosmas Ugwu, who was allegedly shot and killed by his girl friend in a police station.

The 23-year-old lady was said to have walked into the police station in Imo State and shot Ugwu to death on Dec.26.

The incident happened at Ezinihitte Area Command, while the lady, Amanda Uchechi Ugo, hails from Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.

According to the source, the lady walked into the room occupied by Ugwu in the office and reportedly shot Ugwu three times.

Officers on the counter were said to have ran to safety when they heard three gunshots from the room being occupied by Ugwu.

“When police officers ran into the room later to see what was going on, they found Corporal Ugwu lying in a pool of his blood.

“The girl shot him three times on his chest and his left hand. He was rushed immediately to Evergreen Hospital in Ezinihitte where he was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.

“The deceased had a serious fight with his girlfriend in the room at the police station, and in the course of the altercation, the girl reached for deceased’s rifle, pulled the trigger and shot him three times.
