TSWINI, a Nongovernmental Organisation (NGO) has inaugurated a Vocational and Technical Skills Hub for Internally Displaced women in Abuja on Thursday.  The event also marked the unveiling of materials produced by 250 women who had undergone training.
Mrs Chisom Nwankwo, Founder of the organisation said 70 sewing machines were presented to the trainees to further empower them in their vocational skills.
Nwankwo explained that the hub was made up of five departments which include sewing and tailoring, up cycling and basket coating, Agric technology, House hold care products and photography and media Department.
She said she was inspired to start the project to empower women in IDPs to enable them fend for themselves through creative ventures and entrepreneurships rather than wait for free gifts.

According to her, we did not just train women and abandon them; we selected 60 very committed trainees and inducted them in the TSWINI cooperative.
” The cooperative will cater for business start up and support psychological well being, health insurance and financial inclusion opportunities for each TSWINI beneficiary.
” To provide access to market, TSWINI developed the Kwando brand of products which is our vehicle to sell the products that each beneficiary makes. 
“The Kwando range of products include liquid soap, scented candled, petroleum jelly, hand wash sanitizers, facemasks, simple Ankara gowns and more, each  TSWINI beneficiary gets paid for each product made under the Kwando range,” she said.

Nwankwo added that the organisation would also support the women with business name, registration and financial inclusion.
She, therefore, expressed hope that with support, the organisation would replicate the training in other IDP camps.
One of the beneficiaries, MrsTina Sunday, an indigene of Borno states expressed appreciation to the TSWINI for the gesture while promising to do her best in training others with the skill.
