Nasarawa State House of Assembly has gave the Chairmen of Karu and Kokona Local Government Areas passed mark for good projects implementations in their Area Councils that have direct benefits to their people at the grassroot levels.
This, the House reaffirmed it’s commitments to support LG Chairmen in the State to enable them achieve more.
The Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and member representing Doma South Constituency, Hon. Musa Abubakar Ibrahim stated this when the committee visited the two LGAs today in continuation of its oversight functions.
” We are happy with the performance of the two LGAs Chairmen visited today. They have done well and they will continue to enjoy our support and cooperation for more achievements in their areas”

The Lawmaker however, called on the two Chairmen to carry critical stakeholders along especially the House of Assembly Committee on LG in their decision making and programs implementations.
He said doing so will allow room for more constructive input and ideas that can assist in having policies and programs that will impact positively in the life of the people.
He reiterated that, the doors of the Assembly are widely open to contribute ideas base on experience to ensure massive development in the third tier of government.
Speaking, the Executive Chairman, Karu Local Government Area, Barr. Abubakar Aliyu Madaki appreciated the committee for the visit and enumerated some of the achievements of his administration to include construction of befitting legislative complex, construction of bridges, culverts and mutuary in General Hospital Karshi, renovation of Chairman, Vice Chairman and Council Secretary Offices.
Other achievements included Ten Million Naira intervention for victims of windstorm, purchased of motorcycles to police to intensify security surveillance in the area, purchased of bus to revenue collectors to assist in facilitating revenue generation and engagement of casual staff to maintain cleanliness of the secretariat complex among others.
Barr. Abubakar Aliyu disclosed that the achievements were possible because of the money received by the Local Government Council to the tune of Four Hundred and Sixty Million Naira.
According to him, Twenty Percent of the money was earmarked for agriculture and Twenty Million Naira out of the percentage was already used to purchased insecticide, seedlings and other farm input and distributed to farmers.
While in Kokona Local Government Area, the Chairman of the Council Hon. Mek Agbawu Mek appreciated the committee and seek for more support to continue to implement policies and projects that have direct bearing on the life of a common people.
He said, when the administration came on board it concentrated on drilling of boreholes to eleven electoral wards in the Local Government, building of Council Chairman House, electrification of villages, provision of solar street lights, supply of generators in general hospitals, purchased of motorcycles for security surveillance and plan to renovate the entire secretariat.
In the two LGAs visited, the committee was conducted round the multi million naira projects executed by the present administrations, some of the projects are completed while some are still ongoing.
