A Group, Conference of Civil Society for Peace and National Development says the current onslaught against terrorists, bandits and kidnappers in the country has added impetus to the war against insecurity in the country.

The Group’s convener, Malam Adamu Kabiru, made thus known in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

Kabiru said that there was need to sustained aerial surveillance by the Nigerian Air Force, which had led to successful neutralisation of bandits in Katsina, Zamfara,  criminals in Benue and other states.

According to Kabiru, relative peace has also returned to the affected areas since the air offensive commenced.

He noted that if more of such operations were sustained, it would go a long way in decimating bandits, kidnappers and other criminals obstructing peace and tranquillity in the affected areas.

However, Kabiru expressed optimism that the encouraging testimonies coming from Katsina, Zamfara Benue and South Eastern states would soon be said of Kaduna and Niger states.

He further sued for collaboration among all the security agencies in the country to put a permanent end to kidnapping of school children.

“With the vigour the Air Force is carrying out aerial surveillance, kidnappers and bandits will soon be a thing of the past.

“The Nigerian military, especially the Air force has done so much in the fight against insurgents and terrorist elements in the country and must be celebrated and encouraged.

“We urge that more support should be made for the Air force by supplying them with the much needed equipment and information to enable them excel.

“We are delighted to identify with the current Chief of Air StaffAir Marshal Isiaka Amao under whose tenure; Nigeria is gradually becoming free from attacks.

“Thanks to the professional deployment of air assets in a timely and determined manner,” Kabiru said. (NAN)
