ECDU Lagos branch parades at  2024 August meeting in Anambra
The Community leader of Enugwu – Ukwu  Community, Njikoka Local Government Area in Anambra State, Igwe Ralph  Ekpeh, has charged mothers ftrom the community to sustain family unity.
Ekpeh made the call on Saturday during the August General Women meeting in Enugwu-Ukwu community.
He said that women are home builders, and  as such, should work hard to sustain the cultural values of the community that promotes family unity and love.
Ekpeh encouraged the women to train, retrain their children and other family members on the need to embrace peaceful co-existence wherever they live.
He said that the annual August meeting of the women remained a veritable platform to think of better ways to handle social and family ills that may lead to chaos.
“Today, you women build on the legacy of the mothers of old. It is expected that feasible improvements from the old activities should be applied to have a safer and sane society.
“I appeal that, the values and culture of our forefathers should not die in our own time,
“Work hard, make sacrifice to sustain these brotherhood for the development of the community,” Ekpeh said.
Meanwhile, the Mother of the Day, Chief Dorah Ekpeh, urged the women not to relent in building sound families, especially now that many homes are passing through difficult situations.
She, however,  advised the women to be very intentionally in building a society free from crime via quality home grooming and monitoring.
Earlier, Chief Chiebonam Nwosu, the President General of Enugwu-Ukwu Community Development Union (ECDU) women wing, reminded the women of the need to go back to farming and contribute in putting food on the table for the family..
Nwosu said that women need to support their husbands at this time of challenges,  and also, encourage and monitor their children activities to ensure healthy living.
She also urged mothers to ensure that the hardship faced by citizens do not distract them from teaching their family life core values.
Nwosu advised  mothers to teach their children well enough not to lose the identity of their roots through introduction of the community values into their daily activities no matter where they reside.
The 2024 August Women General meeting of Enugwu-Ukwu Community had various activities like  dance competition/match pass from among some state representatives.
The Lagos branch led by the president, Mrs Felicia Agubata came first both in the match past and dance display.
Also the Enugu branch led by Mrs Chinenye Nworji,came second position in both match past and dance display while Asaba branch clichéd third position.
Chief Ngozi Isiadinso, was given award of recognition as woman of worth for her philanthropic gesture in the community.
Nduka as a principal attorney and sole member of Angie N.Nduka Law firm had touched lives of indigent persons in the community.
