There was a gun duel between securityoperatives attached to the convoy ofKano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi UmarGanduje, and some heavily armedbandits along Shema in Katsina State ontheir way back to Kano from ZamfaraState.
Although Ganduje was not in the convoy,it came under attack by bandits whoblocked Zamfara, Katsina and KanoRoad, around Shema on Tuesday.
Governor Ganduje was in Zamfara Stateto attend the formal defection ofGovernor Bello Matawale of Zamfara into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
However, after the occasion, he joinedJigawa State Governor, MuhammaduAbubakar Badaru, back to Kano.
A source hinted that Governor Gandujewas not happy that his convoy did not filltheir tanks for the return journey and heordered them to proceed while he joinedBadaru.
Howeve, on their way back to Kano, theconvoy came under heavy gun attacksfrom the bandits, but was repealed bythe security in the Kano Governmentconvoy.
In the ensuing gun duel, three policeofficers sustained minor bullet injuries,while the convoy ambulance was riddledwith bullets.
Another vehicle was said to have lost itstires after being hit by bullets. It howevermanaged to drive toa safer place before they changed their tires.
