Rep. Nnamdi Ezechi, has described Rep. Julius Pondi, as Chairman House Committee on South-South Development Commission was deserving in view of the lawmaker’s enviable leadership qualities.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).reports that the aim of development commissions is to address specific regional development challenges and disparities, particularly in areas facing socio-economic issues.
NAN reports that These commissions are established by the federal government to decentralize development initiatives, ensure equitable resource allocation, and implement targeted programs for sustainable development.
Ezechi, representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani federal constituency, Delta, said this in a statement he issued on Thursday in Abuja.
He said that Rep. Pondi was abreast of the developmental challenges of the South South region and would give the Committee the needed result – driven leadership.
The lawmaker hailed the appointment of Rep. Pondi as the Chairman, House Committee on South South Development Commission, saying that he would deliver effectively on the mandate.
Ezechi said that the South South geo-political zone remained the economic powerhouse of the nation and deserved Legislative and Executive actions of government to address the developmental needs of the people.
He expressed optimism that the Committee would dutifully oversight the South South Development Commission towards achieving its set objectives and justify the purpose for which it was established.
Ezechi thanked the Speaker, Rep. Tajudeen Abbas, for the appointment, assuring him, and indeed the leadership, assuring of their unbridled support for Pondi
He urged Rep.Pondi to strive to justify the confidence reposed in him by being focused, diligent, and dedicated to his duties and ensuring that the Committee Members and stakeholders were carried along in the scheme of things.
He also commended President Bola Tinubu for his resilience and his assent to the establishment of south south development commission.
He further thanked the governor of Delta, Sheriff Oborevwori for his continuous support for Delta Caucus of the House of Representatives. (NAN)
